From 13 to 15 May 2025, Sarajevo Meeting of Cultures (SMOC) participated in a Train the Trainers workshop and study visit in Athens, Greece, within the EPIC – Entrepreneurial Citizenship for Social Change project, implemented through the Erasmus+ programme. This regional training brought together youth workers and future trainers from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Albania, and Kosovo with the aim of strengthening their knowledge of social entrepreneurship and its potential to address social challenges through innovative and sustainable solutions.
SMOC participated with four young people from Bosnia and Herzegovina and contributed to the programme by delivering a workshop on the topic Social Entrepreneurship Skills. The training covered topics such as social business models, the EntreComp competency framework, and tools for planning and innovation.
As part of the programme, participants visited two inspiring social initiatives in Athens:
Shedia Home – a social café that provides employment and income to individuals who have experienced homelessness, while promoting inclusion through art and the “Invisible Tours” of Athens.
Kypseli Market – a renovated historical venue that today brings together social entrepreneurs, organises community activities, and provides support to vulnerable groups through entrepreneurship and cultural exchange.
This training clearly demonstrated the importance of empowering young people to become drivers of change in their communities. In the next phase of the project, young participants and partner organisations will organise local training sessions to further disseminate knowledge on social entrepreneurship across the Western Balkans.
